Best Graphic Design Software

What’s the best graphic design software? Of course, it depends on what you want to do with it. And how fast you want to be able to work. And how much you care about losing your work when the program crashes. And how long you want to take to learn how to do things.

I’ve tried a few other programs, but once I used Xara, there was no turning back. It’s fast, powerful, full of fabulous features, and easy to figure out how to use, even for a total NON-computer thinking person like me.

Here are some of my favorite features:
I can upload a jpeg that I’ve taken with my camera and blow it up to any size I want, without losing the crisp, clear resolution. You can’t do that with Photoshop.

I can change the font of any text in my image and see what it will look like as I am browsing my available fonts. I don’t have to wait for it to replace it.

Ditto for changing a color. It happens right then and there.

File sizes are all a fraction of those you have in other programs. That means easier load on your computer, no need to worry about running out of memory, and faster upload times when I upload my images to put onto products in my store.

3-D and animation capabilities, although I haven’t done any animation…yet…but I will!

It doesn’t crash when I least expect it, losing precious work and time.

Multiple import and export options. I can import photoshop files, pdfs, jpegs, pngs, and a whole bunch of stuff I don’t even know what they are!

You know how if you import a photo into photoshop and then want to cut out around something and put in a different background? Well, you have to painstakingly go around the whole object, then make those ants march, and then cut the image out.

And THEN, if you make a mistake, or want to change one section, you gotta start all over again? Not so with Xara. Even after you’ve cut out the image, you can just go and adjust the clip lines, and the photo is there, as though you’re moving curtains around and the photo is behind it, not damaged in the least. AMAZING.

Yes, Xara is from the UK, and you may be worried about compatibility or support. There is a fabulous online forum, and any question I have ever asked, I get an answer to, usually within an hour, and if not, overnight. There are other users all over the world much more knowledgeable than I am, who help me.

And I haven’t had any problems at all with the program not working, or not being able to contact Xara. In fact, I complained when I got the latest upgrade of a program, because the dark background color was hard on my eyes. They emailed me back to let me know it was something I could change, and told me how! Yay!

And it hardly crashes. Every now and then it will not be able to do something, usually when I’m working with a font, I’ve noticed. But it autosaves so well, I’ve never actually lost any work. And it happens so rarely, it doesn’t bother me.

Oh yeah, did I mention you can build websites with it? And it’ll do all the coding? Yup. Not something I’ve bothered to do, but it can, and knowing how well everything else works, I’m guessing that function works well also.

Xara has the best graphic design software in my opinion, and I would never even waste my time trying any of the others ever again, no matter what other features they add.

But don’t take my word for it. Download a free trial version and see for yourself.

Watch some of the very clear, very helpful videos, like this one below, and start making stuff immediately.

There’s also a cheaper option, with fewer features, which might work well for you. You can also try a free download of that program and see for yourself.
